What is my role as President?

As head of my tribe, my mission in this emergency is not only to survive, but to come out of it being antifragile.

In case you’re not familiar with Nicholas Taleb’s concept.

“Antifragility is the property by which as a result of facing a stressful or negative external element (e.g. this crisis) a person, organization or system, is positively reinforced.”

In exceptional situations, exceptional measures.

Here are the ones I have taken so far to achieve this.

Regaining top-down control

It’s the most important at an organizational level.

Right now, quick and efficient decision-making is of the utmost importance.

That’s why I have intervened radically to:

  • Prioritize resources.
  • Maintain all jobs.
  • Guarantee the stability of the company under uncertain circumstances.

This has led me to take several decisions such as becoming a 100% remote company and closing all our offices.

In this video I explain a little more about this. (Turn on English subtitles ?)

When there is no time for consensus, the full trust of the entire tribe comes into play.

Opening our free App

Bearing in mind that Zapiens’ mission is to ease knowledge transfer in order to favor habit modification both individually and collectively, during this emergency we had to put it into practice more than ever.

That’s why we decided to open our App so that anyone is able to obtain truthful information that will lead them to modify their behavior (stay at home, wash their hands, know how to act if they are infected…), and answer all their doubts.

It is our way of contributing to the common good to #FlattenTheCurve.

Today, more than ever, knowledge saves lives and learning saves even more!

Obviously, on an internal level, this is resulting in madness and involves an impressive amount of work.

In our roadmap this was planned for 2 years from now.

We know that we are not ready, neither technically nor in number of people, but it is necessary.

The difficulties that arise are not reasons to stop.

If you are reading this and have had any kind of problems: I’m sorry! Please contact us at soporte@zapiens.org and we will solve them as soon as possible. I hope you understand!

Establishing a crisis committee

Focused exclusively on getting through the extra workload that opening the App has generated, and other related tasks.

The response from all the team members involved has been superb. THANK YOU!!

In exceptional circumstances, surround yourself with exceptional people.

We have also taken the opportunity to practice transparency within our company and we are posting our meetings on YouTube.

By the way, we are overworked!

We are looking for volunteers to help us out.

Taking care

Last and y most important: take care of ourselves.

Take care of ourselves, of our families, of our company, of our society and of our planet…

‘Econology’ is easy when things are going well, but when things go wrong… it’s necessary!

Together we’ll stop this!!
